During tough economic times, it can be difficult for caring individuals to donate their hard earned money or time to participate in events that raise awareness to important causes like child abuse, but we here at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Hidalgo and Starr Counties couldn’t do it without your support.
Because of the kindness in your hearts over the last 20 years, our good work has helped thousands of children who were abused, but there is still much more to do.
1. Donating to CACHSC is Helping Children Who Were Abused
One of the greatest joys in life is helping members in the community in their time of need. Your generous donation is a fundamental part in fulfilling our mission: helping children receive the quality therapeutic services they need to overcome such trauma.
In addition, your donation helps fund:
-
- Essential items like clothes, diapers, and supplies
- Community education services
- Medical examinations and treatments
- Advocacy services
We understand that life happens and time may be limited, but helping us achieve our goal of helping families rebuild by donating a few dollars here and there really goes a long way.
2. Your Contribution Can Help Children Make the World a Better Place
If you’re able to donate whatever you can to help others, you are essentially contributing to making the world a better place. Your contribution resonates with these children, reconfirming that there are good people in this world that want to help others in need.
These lasting impacts can carry on with them well into adulthood. In fact, children who escaped or were rescued from an abusive homes often become advocates for child abuse themselves.
3. Donating Can Encourage Children to be Generous
Being the child of a humanitarian is a wonderful thing. Although generosity may not be genetic, kids who watch their parents perform acts of kindness often grow up believing it is the right thing to do–which it is.
Sooner or later, your child could be helping someone who needs a dollar to buy their lunch, or carrying the books of someone who doesn’t own a backpack. Paying it forward isn’t genetic, but it is contagious.
4. Donations Fund Education and Awareness Services for the Community
Education is important to the prevention of child abuse, but with it comes with a price tag. Donating a few dollars to our cause, however, helps us fund awareness and community education services that inform everyone of the signs of abuse, what abused children endure, and how their lives–and their family’s lives–are impacted.
Educating yourself, your family, and your friends on the signs and warning signs of an abused child is crucial to our cause. Your children may also be able to help if they recognize the signs of their peers being abused. Although they may not be contributing money, our children may speak out about the abuse their peers endure but are too afraid to come forward themselves.
5. Donations Can Give You a Strong Sense of Fulfilment
With the constant hustle and bustle of life, one can forget to take a moment to be grateful for all they have and have helped with. Donating to CACHSC can help you feel a sense of fulfilment for helping a child that has faced unspeakable trauma.
It is an opportunity to be grateful and to share gratitude all at once. Helping others feels good! Altruism makes the world a divine place and results in positive changes.
