As we gather together to celebrate family this holiday season, it’s important to take time to remember those who are less fortunate. This Thanksgiving season, consider showing your thanks by contributing to the work we do here at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Hidalgo and Starr Counties (CACHSC) to support children in need.

A Season of Thankfulness, a Season for Giving

On Thanksgiving, many of us join together with our families and loved ones to enjoy good food and togetherness. This holiday is often full of joy and happiness as we take time to appreciate all we have to be thankful for.

However, for many, the holiday isn’t so joyous. For many children, family is not the safe haven it should be, and togetherness is tainted by abuse.

As you look around at the faces of your loved ones this Thanksgiving, remember the children in your community who don’t have the loving support you have, and consider what you can do to make a difference in their lives. One of the best ways to help children is by making sure safety nets and supports are in place in case abuse does occur.

Giving Back on Giving Tuesday

Every year, Giving Tuesday is celebrated on November 28 to encourage all of us to do our part for our communities. Giving Tuesday is meant to remind us of the joys that come with helping others and lifting up those who need support. This Giving Tuesday, you can join in on the effort with your donation to CACHSC.

How Donations Are Used at CACHSC

Here at CACHSC, we offer a range of services to support children, combat abuse, and bring abusers to justice. Every dollar of your donation goes to facilitate these services, and you can rest assured that your money is being used to directly help children. Below, you can find a breakdown of how donations are spent at CACHSC:

  • The Forensic Interview — Trained interviewers review the child’s traumatic experience, with each interview costing CACHSC $75.
  • The SANE Exam — Children are examined by a specially trained nurse to document abuse and collect evidence, with each exam costing $500.
  • Hope and Healing — We provide counseling and therapy for children to help with recovery and healing, with therapy sessions costing between $125 and $150.
  • Rebuilding Families — We offer parenting classes and therapy to non-offending family members, with these services costing around $100.

In total, providing services to one child for one month costs CACHSC around $1,500.

Give Back This Thanksgiving With a Donation to CACHSC

The work we do at CACHSC is only possible with the support of people like you. This Thanksgiving, remember the children in your community who are facing abuse, and consider doing what you can to combat that abuse by donating to CACHSC.

At CACHSC, we are dedicated to helping victims of abuse find relief, hope, and healing, and we work all year round to make that possible. Do your part to help children in need by making a donation.

This Thanksgiving, make a donation to CACHSC to give support to children in need in your community.
