Hope and Healing
Here at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Hidalgo and Starr Counties, it is our mission to give families the chance to process their feelings when it comes to child abuse. Counseling is done in a safe, caring setting that helps to ease the child’s anxiety. You and your child have been through such traumatic experiences, and we want you to rest assured that your child and your family’s well-being is our top priority.
A Guiding Light Down a Dark Road
Our therapy services guide children who have suffered abuse through the dark road of pain and distress and into recovery, where they can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that they are safe and heard. When they receive a comprehensive, trauma-focused assessment, it gives our organization the information it needs to create a plan to help them overcome their trauma.
Our licensed therapists are trained in evidence-based practices that offer a helping hand throughout your family’s healing journey, such as:

- Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
- Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy Informed Treatment
- Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS)
Interpersonal therapy techniques through the use of art, movement, play, and specialized therapeutic groups are also a staple to how we help heal children and adolescents whose trust has been shattered by abuse.
You Can Recover From This
At CACHSC, we want to encourage children to find their resilience, build self-esteem, regain trust, and break through feelings of isolation. We know it will take time for you and your child to heal, but we will be helping you every step of the way.
Your child can recover from this, and we will do all that we can to get them, and you, through such dark times.
